RYA DIESEL ENGINE COURSES
The aim of this course is to provide an awareness of a marine diesel engine and enable you to be more self sufficient. It will give you the ability to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown at sea and rectify defects which do not require workshop support. Mechanical failure is the main cause of RNLI Lifeboat callouts and basic maintenance and engine care covered during the day may ensure you do not become a RNLI statistic.
COURSE CONTENT
The course will give you an awareness of the marine diesel engine main systems including:
- Operation of the marine diesel engine
- Fuel, lubrication, cooling, air and electrical systems
- Engine maintenance
- Servicing, winterisation and fault diagnosis
- PRACTICAL SESSIONS ON A WORKING ENGINE
COURSE MATERIAL
The RYA Diesel Engine course book is provided to work through during the day. Due to the facilities at the Marine Skills Centre cut-aways, demo engines parts and practical hands on sessions on REAL WORKING diesel engines make this course different to many others.
