FIRST PERSON ON SCENE (FPOS) INTERMEDIATE AND EXTENDED SKILLS

The Intermediate FPOS course is designed to take the First Aider on to the next skill level. Delegates will be taught the skills associated with rapid assessment, stabilisation and transfer of both the trauma victim and those suffering a medical emergency.

This qualification has been developed with the NHS Ambulance Services and is clinically endorsed by the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care. FPOS also meets the Security Industry Authority first aid requirements for Close Protection. The extended skills will be tailored to the participant’s requirements where possible. This can be orientated toward the Maritime Environment, especially for the Maritime Security Personnel in the tactical & non-tactical roles where required.

The instructors have experience in tactical medicine, the maritime environment and NHS or private operational Paramedics. All hold the relevant qualifications and skills for a great course.

The Intermediate FPOS course is run over 5 days and includes both theoretical and practical sessions, designed to develop a good all round First Responder. The course includes a comprehensive handbook.

There are practical and theory assessments throughout the course and a final assessment day.  Some pre course study will be beneficial and additional evening study may be needed during the course.  Successful candidates will be awarded the Intermediate FPOS course certificate in association with Aid Training International.

This certificate is valid for three years after which participants will have to meet the assessment standard for a new certificate to be reissued.

The course is approved by Edexcel and is IHCD managed (Institute of Health Care Development) a division of Edexcel the UK's largest qualification Awarding Body.  It is the 'Accreditation Body' of the National (NHS) Ambulance Service and is responsible for the issuing of all the certification qualifications throughout the Ambulance Services.

Course dates are available on the calendar via the home page.
