AIM
This thorough 1 day course covers all aspects of the RYA and MCA syllabus. It will enable you to become a competent communicator in all GMDSS VHF/DSC procedures.
COURSE CONTENT
VHF voice procedures.
Distress, urgency, safety and routine messages.
Radio requirements and regulations.
Navtex, EPIRBS and SARTs
Practical sessions on Digital Selective Controller (DSC)radio simulator and voice training equipment.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
No previous experience is necessary
COURSE MATERIAL
It is recommended that the RYA VHF radio booklet G22/02 is purchased prior to the course, available from PHSS.
Knowing the phonetic alphabet, channel allocation and the mayday format will be highly beneficial. Pen and notebooks are required.
CERTIFICATION
Direct to the RYA via PHSS on successful completion of the course. Please bring a passport photograph and cheque or card payment to the RYA for £22.00 per person. Please note from April 2008 the fee rises to £25pp.

Light refreshments tea and coffee is provided
Lunch is available locally, or bring your own if you like.
It is a legal requirement for all VHF maritime users to have an operators certificate.
