RYA Diesel Engine Courses - a one-day beginners’ course to help prevent and solve diesel engine failures.
The aim of this course is to provide an awareness of a marine diesel engine and enable you to be more self sufficient. It will give you the ability to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown at sea and rectify defects which do not require workshop support. Mechanical failure is the main cause of RNLI Lifeboat callouts and basic maintenance and engine care covered during the day may ensure you do not become a RNLI statistic.
The course will give you an awareness of the marine diesel engine main systems including:
- Operation of the marine diesel engine
- Fuel, lubrication, cooling, air and electrical systems
- Engine maintenance
- Servicing, winterisation and fault diagnosis
- Practical sessions working on a diesel engine
The RYA Diesel Engine course book is provided to work through during the day.
Includes practical hands on sessions using a REAL WORKING diesel engine making this course different to many others on offer.
It is advisable that overalls or work clothes and suitable footwear are available for you to change in to if required. You could come into contact with oil and fuel.
No previous experience is necessary.
The Diesel Course is normally 1 day, 0900 - 1700hrs
Awarded on completion of the course.
Group bookings taken, courses can be run anywhere subject to terms and conditions, call for details.
